Extinct animals still alive. Although this event has been ongoing for the past 10,000 years or so—since the last ice age, to be exact—the mass extinction has been accelerating at a dizzying pace. It is helping with my social studies but still, it's sooooooooooooooooooooooooo sad. World's largest bee, lost since 1981, rediscovered in the wild.
It’s haunting, beautiful, and rare. So rare, in fact, that no one has heard it in the wild since the animals went functionally extinct in the 1970s. There are many animals thought to be extinct, but they may be alive today.
The imperial woodpecker may actually still be alive, but hasn't been seen in more than 50 years. A species of giant tortoise which influenced the work of charles darwin, pictured, and has been feared extinct for 150 years may still be alive We're kinda glad we don't have to face off against them.

He firmly believes the javan tiger is alive. The last tasmanian tiger, or thylacine, known to have existed died in the hobart zoo, in tasmania, australia, on september 7th, 1936. But, all the way officially it is announced that the those animals are extinct.
